What We Fear
I hate being scared. Like, I am an enormous scaredy cat when it comes to scary movies and especially clowns (they are’t even funny).Somehow though, when a new scary movie comes out I end up getting talked into going, and the results the same. I get really scared, don’t sleep for a couple days, but in the end it’s usually fun, I guess? They are something I fear, I have made it 18 years and still not been forced onto a roller coaster that goes upside down, maybe I will overcome that fear in my next life.
The thing is, scary movies are fake, roller coasters for the most part don’t cause injuries but I still get nervous about both of them, they are something I fear. Our fears are something that prevent us from doing whatever we want to, they hold us back and in some cases make us look less brave than we may seem. If you overcome your fears though, you’ve gained knowledge in the world, you know not to be afraid anymore, you have grown as a human being.
Dumbledore broke it down pretty perfectly in the quote at the end of this post, and it’s definitely something I try to keep in mind any time I feel a bit uneasy about something. We really shouldn’t be fearing something we may not completely know about. Don’t be afraid to take that leap of faith, because in most cases whether it works out in the end or not…you will grow as a person. That’s what life is about anyways, growing as a person in all aspects of life.
So be afraid of roller coasts, or scary movies, or clowns like me, but never let fear guide you away from success.
